    Salcombe Yacht Club - South West Water Trophy Pursuit Race

    The Salcombe Yacht Club South West Water Trophy Pursuit Race has become a regular precursor to the Club’s Laying Up and Prize Giving Supper, and was held on the 1 st December on a grey day, only to be matched by the de rigueur grey outfits of 20 or so of Salcombe’s finest dinghy sailors.   • Salcombe Yacht Club - Winter Series - Race 5

    The weather has not been kind to Salcombe sailors over recent weeks with two races cancelled due to strong winds and last week’s affair turning into a survival battle for the hardy few that ventured out. The wind forecast on Saturday was more benign and turnout was good despite the persistent rain.     SYC Ramble on Dartmoor - 7 Nov

    Tony Rowe organised a superb walk on Dartmoor which was enjoyed by all. It was then back to the Club for delicious Steak and Chips. Tony has now agreed to being in charge of the SYC Rambles and is looking forward to running the next walk on Weds 5 Dec in and around Dartmouth - everyone is welcome including dogs!

    Salcombe Yacht Club Winter Series 2018 – Race 1

    Saturday 27 th October saw the start of the Salcombe Yacht Club Winter Series.  Woolly hats and sunglasses were essential wear on a chilly bluebird day.  Despite the low Spring tide, Race Officer Simon Ballantine was able to set a long first beat into a brisk nor’easter toward Gerston. Eleven Solos came to the line, and with a strong ebb tide, the fleet was split between the Salcombe and East Portlemouth shore.  Charlie

    SYC Autumn Series. 6th October.

    Salcombe Yacht Club Autumn series. Race 6. Phantom open meeting aside, which has been/will be, reported elsewhere there were few takers for the club racing at SYC on the 6 th October. The medium handicap fleet garnered youngster George Alexander who raced his Laser Radial while septuagenarian Geof Gilson crewed by Chris Spencer-Chapman was the sole representative in the Yawl fleet.
