Salcombe Yacht Club Summer Series Race 2 - 16th June 2018
A very blustery Westerly wind made sailing both exciting but challenging as reduced fleet numbers defied the weather forecast and had fantastic blue-sky racing. Race Officer Clive Jacobs took the fleets on a first beat to Blackstone and followed this with an at times hair raising run to the distant Gerston mark which at the bottom of a Spring tide was just about negotiable with raised centreboards. Salcombe Yacht Club Summer Series Race 1
567422: For the first Saturday in a long time the breeze was up, competitors enjoying a force 4 north easterly at the top of the tide. The Race Officer set a classic ‘around the creeks’ course to make best use of conditions and in the end even the sun came out to round off a great afternoon’s racing. Salcombe Yacht Club Sailing Club Series Race 7 - 2nd June 2018
The first Saturday of June produced Salcombe Yacht Club dinghy racing near to its best with both sun and a pleasant estuary breeze. Race officer Nigel Blazeby was able to set a classic low tide race course with an initial beat to Blackstone followed by a very long run to Gerston. Then a challenging beat back to Salcombe and a loop in the estuary; all of which kept the many competitors
