SOLO

Solo Fleet Report 2016

Salcombe’s Solo fleet remains as healthy as ever with a fleet of over 60 boats.

It’s heartening to note that over the last eleven years of my compiling these statistics, a total of 31 helms have left the fleet for varying reasons, giving a total of 94 members past and present since the time when we numbered just 16 boats in 2005.

The Solo’s popularity is also reflected in a healthy set of national statistics. In 2016 the Class Association celebrated the 60th anniversary of the first Solo built by its designer Jack Holt.

This year we say goodbye to one of our oldest members and au revoir to another who is just starting a family, but we welcome three new members to the Salcombe Solo class.  If you are thinking of joining the fleet there is always someone who will lend you a boat to give you a taste of the wide variety of competition and camaraderie.

Anyone who is interested should get in touch and arrange to join us in the Yacht Club Bar after Saturday afternoon racing.
