Sharpen your racing edge and kick-start the season with a focused, hands-on Salcombe Yawl Training Weekend at Salcombe Yacht Club.

Sail Plan Setup & Tuning
Boat Handling
Were delighted to have Mark Hazelwood leading on sail plan setup and tuning, alongside Will Henderson, who will guide strategy, tactics, and boat handling throughout the weekend.
Friday Evening Theory & Preparation
7.00pm | SYC Chart Room
An interactive evening of short, sharp sessions covering sail setup for different conditions, starting techniques, first-beat decision making, and Salcombe-specific tactical challenges. Bring a notepad and be ready to ask questions.
Saturday On the Water
9.30am | SYC Start Line
A full day afloat featuring mini sprint races, whistle-driven manoeuvres, and live coaching from RIBs and yawls. The afternoon moves into club racing, with SailChart tracking and drone footage capturing key moments for later analysis.
Evening: Highlights, de-brief, and expert commentary followed by a relaxed dinner at the Club.
Sunday Analysis & Learning
10.30am | SYC Chart Room
Dive into SailChart data covering boat speed, VMG, tacks, and distance sailed, plus practical discussion on racing rules commonly encountered in Salcombe. A great opportunity to reflect, ask questions, and shape future training events. - Don't forget to book your lunch (Pasty or Hog Roast Bap with or without Chips)
Entry & Booking
£25 per person (includes entry and Saturday evening meal excluding dessert).
Non-sailors are welcome to join Saturdays dinner (£18).
