Bartons Salcombe Yawl Open ~ Red Fleet Report
The first Salcombe Yawl Open of the season always brings a little extra anticipation, and the 2026 Bartons Red Fleet Open over the Early May Bank Holiday did not disappoint. A strong fleet gathered at Salcombe Yacht Club, with several boats emerging in fresh livery and a few new ownership combinations keen to see how they would fare in the Red Fleet. Despite two days of heavy rain, shifting winds, and challenging tidal conditions, the National 12 fleet enjoyed a memorable Bank Holiday weekend at Salcombe Yacht Club. Racing brought a mix of classic Salcombe unpredictability — from drifting car park conditions in the estuary to strong, steady sea breezes outside the harbour.
