Ladies Who Launch/Open Dinghy Sailing

945677 orig

Having completed its fourteenth year of launching each week Ladies Who Launch is suitable for absolute beginners and experienced sailors alike.

We join together to gain confidence and have fun afloat and welcome new members. Sailors do not have to attend every week and are most welcome whenever they can launch.

The SYC vision with Ladies Who Launch is to introduce more people to sailing and inspire sailors to progress to regularly sailing and engage in a sporty and healthy lifestyle. The social aspects of the group are evident on the Yacht Club Terrace after sailing and this encourages everyone to look forward and plan the next time they will venture out on the water.

Ladies Launch in 2024  Thursday morning at 10.00 am and sessions last for approximately 2.5 hours.

We will also be encouraging those new to racing and will aim to run some "Pathway racing sessions" late on Wednesday afternoon and before the Club Mid Week race to help

If you wish to join our Ladies or the Pathway racing sessions, please contact:

Jayne Morris

Email: Jayne@salcombeyc.org.uk

You are welcome to come as a guest 3 times before becoming a full member of the club.

The cost of the sessions to non-members is £20 to be paid online. It is advisable to book as we have a limited number of guests each week.

Please dress expecting to get wet with a buoyancy aid; although if you'd really rather not get wet we will try to keep you dry in the Safety boat! No experience is necessary. Come along and have fun and experience the freedom of being on the water.

Thank you to Sport England and to the Club volunteers who make the weekly sessions possible. Roger Odell and Ursula Ferguson are  regular helpers and their guidance of how to look for the ever changing winds in the Estuary, a Patrol Boat cover is highly valued by the Ladies! So thank you all who help. When the Ladies join the mental and physical challenges of weekly racing, or simply enjoy time on the water under sail, we know they will be engaging in what can be lifelong passion and that the Yacht Club will play an important role in promoting sport.
