Racing in The Range

Four boats were up for the race in the Range on Sunday 20th August after Peter Waring threw down the challenge the Thursday before.
Starfire was rechristened Starfish by Peter W on the chat with various amusing comments and photos appearing about the Starfish Enterprise and the speed of light.
Peter Sandover kindly volunteered to be Race Officer and due to the strong winds and swell on the Saturday the race course was kept short to ensure all boats were safely back into the harbour before low water.
Ardea, St Anthony, Nikita and Starfire were all well crewed and crossed the start line at 10.30. The first beat was to Starehole virtual buoy then a broad reach down to Gara. Rain messed up visibility a bit for a while but all crews were on the ball spotting pots. (Luckily no Klingons were seen on any of the starboard bows!)
With Starfire in the lead Gara was rounded then a beat back up to Gammon. A nice reach to Starehole again finished the race in around an hour.
St Anthonys handicap pulled her up on corrected time from 4th to second and Starfire kept her lead after handicap corrections to win the race. Perhaps there was some maximum warp speed applied to Starfire after all!
Thanks again to Peter Sandover for being Race Officer and to Starfires visiting crew who sat on the weather rail and braved the inclement weather.
