SYC Ramble followed by supper at the club
This walk will take us across meadows and green lanes on the higher ground behind West and East Charleton, then down past Springfields Farm Shop for a coffee stop (optional) to join Frogmore Creek at Cleavehouse Bay, then along fields, a bit of foreshore and back to West Charleton past old slate quarries and the Millennium beacon.
Then directly to the pub "The Charleton" in the village. This is about 10-15 minutes walk to the start point.
We did it today, and it was a bit muddy and slippery early on, so may choose using some quiet roads to avoid the worst bits, if they haven't dried out at all.
Meet at 1000 on Church Lane, past St Mary's, up the hill a bit, near the allotments by a signed footpath on the left. From Kingsbridge, Church Lane is the first road on the left on the top of the hill after crossing the bridge over Bowcombe Creek.
Park in Church Lane, for the sake of the holders, preferably not right next to the allotments, but there's room to turn round there and find a suitable spot on the left down the hill.
Or if you need a quicker get-away, park on Charleton Way by the pub, allowing time to amble along to our start point.
The walk's just over 4 1/2 miles and takes about 2 1/2 hrs, plus stops and breaks.
See you there!
You are all welcome back to the club for drinks at 6pm and Pie, Chips and Gravy served at 6.30pm - do come and join us!
