An Evening of Inspiration: The Art and Craft of Boat Building
Join us for a captivating talk at SYC showcasing the magic of boat building through stunning photography and heartfelt stories. From the sparks of creation in the workshop to the triumphant launch of beautifully finished boats, this event promises to be an evening of inspiration.
Discover how our courses have transformed the lives of over 600 students since 1997, producing more than 280 remarkable boats along the way. You'll hear incredible case studies, including how our bursary recipients have thrived and where their journeys have taken them.
We're proud to share that our current 40-week course is led by a cohort of more women than men for the first time, a milestone supported by our partnership with the Women in Boat Building Blog. We welcome students of all ages (16-85!) and provide free taster days for schoolchildren, ensuring boat building is accessible to all. Since becoming a charity in 2020, we've awarded over 70 bursaries to those in need.
Whether you're a long-time enthusiast or new to the craft, this talk is sure to inspire. While the event is free, we hope to encourage more people to join our courses or support our mission to empower the next generation of boat builders.
