Autumn Series Fast Handicap Race 4

Saturdays race took part in a light easterly wind with a strong ebb tide the fleet comprising 7 Yawls and 2 Albacores split between the Portlemouth and Salcombe sides for the start.

The Salcombe side paid with AJ clear away followed by the Y17 Magee and Y187 Savell and the second Albacore of John McLaren all swapping places tacking towards Snapes. AJ disappeared into the Bag oblivious he had missed rounds mark as the Albacore rounded 3 closely followed by Y17 and Y187 AJ spotted his error and commenced his return to mark 3. As the wind died the chasing pack of Yawls compressed the fleet but at 7 the Albacore, Y187 And Y17 all rounded closely and headed away on the tide these positions were maintained down to mark two with the chasing pack being fronted by O Turner and M Knowles. Another short taking leg up the Town side saw Y15 and Y186 pull through Y17 after a series of errors. Positions maintained round mark 3 and the final 2 then a short beat to the finish the Albacore took the bell followed by Y187, Y186, Y15 and Y17 ready for the computer to decide who had won the race
