ILCA 6 Youth World Champions at Aarhus, Denmark.

This summer I had the opportunity to compete in my First ever international sailing event at the ILCA 6 Youth World Championships in Aarhus Denmark.
The Worlds came straight after my first ILCA 6 Nationals, so it was two big events back-to-back and a great opportunity to gain lots of experience.

The Worlds was a completely new experience, with a huge fleet and sailors from all over the world. There were just 6 female sailors representing Great Britain, 4 of whom are on the BYT.
The racing was challenging, but I learned a lot about racing at an international level and how important it is to stay focused and make good decisions.![]()
I also managed to achieve another first — my first ever black flag! Not quite the first I was hoping for at a World Championships, but non the less definitely a memorable way to start my international racing career!
Although my final result wasnt what I had hoped for, my consistency across all weather conditions and improvement over the week has truly motivated me to keep training, improve upon my consistency and come back even stronger for future national and international events.
A huge thank you to my club, coaches, family and everyone who has supported me throughout the season.
