SYC Dufour Rally to Southern Brittany

Published 18:29 on 18 Jun 2023

Greetings from an outpost of the SYC cruiser fleet at anchor off Ile Houat in Southern Brittany. Yachts Snow Goose, Tir Na Nog and Ardea set out from Salcombe between 3rd and 5th June with overnight sails in a fresh reach over to Roscoff.

Our thanks to Alison and Roger Odell and Peter Beinemen for helping out on the passage for Tir Na Nog and Ardea. The fleet then spent a few days in Roscoff for recuperation, awaiting crew and for the strong NE'lys to abate a bit.  This allowed visits to Roscoff town, the exotic gardens and a great ferry trip and day's cycle ride on Ile de Batz, taking in the beautiful beaches, leisurely lunch at the creperie and a visit to the botanic gardens.

John and Jane on Snow Goose have gallantly and knowledgeably led the Dufour fleet; since leaving Roscoff they have so far guided us to LAber Wrach, Audierne, Benodet, Isles de Glenan (a real treat), Concarneau and Isle de Groix where we met up with SYC mates, Graham and Meredith Parker on Little Dove. Then on to Belle Isle and we are now at anchor at Ile Houat. We have enjoyed great passages and some good sailing, plenty of dolphin visits and many delicious meals ashore and on board. We are only half way through our trip so hope for more adventure, continued sun and fair winds.

All the best from:

John and Jane Miller on Snow Goose,

James and Ann Jones on Tir Na Nog

Peter Sandover and Jane Knight on Ardea
