SYC End-of-Year Prize Giving 2025

Published 13:52 on 4 Dec 2025

If you couldnt attend this years end-of-year Dinghy Laying Up Supper & Prize-Giving, held on Saturday 29th December, then you truly missed a fantastic evening.

A total of 77 SYC Members gathered at Cliff House to enjoy a delicious three-course meal, set against a backdrop of a beautifully curated photo slideshow from the 2025 sailing season. The warm atmosphere, filled with camaraderie and shared memories, set the perfect tone for the celebrations ahead.

Following dinner, the Prize-Giving ceremony was led by Rear Commodore (Sailing), John Burn, supported by Charlotte Simmonds and the ever-reliable Trophy Record-Keeper, Paula Guess. Together, they presented a wide range of awards that reflected not only sailing achievements but also the spirit, humour, and community that define SYC. Laughter, heckling, and good-natured banter filled the room as the successes of another brilliant sailing season were honoured.

A special round of applause was given to all the staff for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication throughout the year. Our Commodore, Tim Fells, also offered sincere thanks to John Burn for his tireless efforts in his role as Rear Commodore, Sailing.

The evening concluded with the presentation of special gifts to David GreeningWill Henderson, and Paula Guess, recognising their invaluable contributions to the Club across the season.

With spirits high and celebrations continuing long into the night, one message was clear:
Lets make the 2026 Prize-Giving even bigger and better!

And who knows—you might be the one going home with the legendary Capsize Belt next year!
