It is wonderful to see the boats returning to the water and enjoy fabulous sailing conditions. The numbers of Cruisers in the harbour this week is impressive and the two SYC Dinghy Fleets racing on Saturday afternoon were a welcome spectacle in the new world we are all adjusting to. Our sport allows the opportunity to keep fit and healthy and enjoy recreation in the most stunning location. We understand that more consideration and respect has to be given by us all and we are grateful for members following the basic Covid procedures when visiting the Club.

Please see the amended Club Racing NOR posted today online. For July & August Saturday Club racing will consist of two starts at 14.00 Handicap and 14.20 Solo; so please come and enjoy the best view from the SYC terrace! Following further review of the latest Government guidelines the Flag Officers have removed the requirement that members sign on for each club race in July and August. May we also take this opportunity to remind everyone that the wearing of adequate personal buoyancy by all competitors (including Yawl sailors) became mandatory at the start of this sailing season. The forecast for Saturday looks good again. Enjoy the racing.

Working carefully within the RYA guidelines we have started to arrange small experimental Cadet Sessions to consider how we can operate with safety measures and additional social distancing awareness.  Parent volunteers are essential, and more than ever will be involved in rigging, launch and recovery and the washing down of equipment. Please bear with us as we try to provide opportunities for all our Cadets to have some time on the water this year. The number attending any particular session will be reduced and we will contact individuals as soon as we are able. Our intention is to have more sessions available during the daytime in the summer holidays.

In addition we are delighted that Mike White has undertaken the training franchise with SYC and will be running courses in August. More details will follow from Mike.
