Wednesday Evening Mid Week Series 1 - Race 2

After his Victory last Wednesday, David Greening could be found on the Watch House Balcony this Wednesday doing a very realistic Owl impression, albeit out of necessity rather than choice. 

Even with the issues he was facing in the Watch House David managed to get the fleet away on time. The course was 2-3-2-3 but with the breeze dropping David made the decision to drop an X mark just off the Ferry slip so the fleet only had to visit Crossways on one occasion.

The majority of the fleet opted for the Portlemouth shore for the first beat to Millbay. Tim Fells and Fran Gifford made a great start in the Lark but it was new club member Olly Turner in his Solo who really benefited. 

Olly very quickly managed to get himself out in front giving him clear air and the space to sail shifts as he wanted whilst the rest of the pack battled it out.

Olly never looked troubled throughout the race managing to finish 3rd on the water easily taking the win on corrected time. No doubt the first of many victories to come for this talented sailor. 

Simon Dobson in his Solo took 2nd whilst Tim and Fran came home in 3rd place.
